Prince Tagoe expresses concern about the commitment of Black Stars players

Former Black Stars striker, Prince Tagoe has expressed his disappointment with the Black Stars’ performance in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars have had a poor run in the AFCON qualifiers, with only two points from their first three matches in Group F, including a loss to Angola and draws against Niger and Sudan.

According to Prince Tagoe, the players lack the intensity and character to win games, unlike when they play for their clubs. He stressed that the players need to replicate their club performances when representing the national team to win games.

“If the players can replicate at least 80% of the performances they exhibit at their various clubs, we will undoubtedly win games. We have good players, but the character they exhibit in approaching Black Stars games is very low, and that has been our biggest problem,” Prince Tagoe said on Bryt FM.

With two points from three games, Ghana will need to win their upcoming return leg against Sudan on Tuesday, October 15 to keep their hopes of qualifying for AFCON 2025 alive.
