Supporters of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a potential New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in the 2028 elections, have called for calm and restraint following comments made by Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Kwame Baffoe Abronye, about the former lawmaker.
In a press statement released on Friday, May 2, 2025, the group expressed disappointment over Mr. Abronye’s remarks, which they described as “regrettable and disappointing.”
The loyalists noted in the statement that such “unmeasured attacks only weaken the fabric of our unity.”
The group emphasized the importance of responsible speech, especially among party members.
“We respectfully urge all Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong supporters to exercise restraint and refrain from responding in kind,” the statement read.
“Our commitment is to PEACE, DISCIPLINE, and UNITY within our great party.”
The supporters also reminded the party that its main opponent is the National Democratic Congress (NDC), not fellow party members.
“The NPP must not expend its energy fighting amongst itself,” the statement said.
“If we genuinely seek to capture power in 2028 and deliver progress and prosperity to the Ghanaian people, then our focus must shift to the NDC, rather than internal skirmishes.”
The group expressed forgiveness towards Mr. Abronye, stating, “We’ve forgiven Mr. Abronye.”
However, they emphasized the need for party members to be mindful of their words and actions to maintain unity and discipline within the party.
The statement further highlighted Kennedy Agyapong’s consistent demonstration of loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the party’s unity.
