The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has sworn in a new Board of Directors for the GNPC Foundation, tasking them to drive greater social impact and accountability in the foundation’s work.
The new board will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Albert Kwaku Akpalu, a respected academic and administrator, who will steer the foundation as it seeks to deepen its role in national development.
Other members of the board include Ms. Helga JM Boadi, Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan, Lawyer Naa Ayorkor Gyaama Cato Brown, Prof. Patience Abor and Honourable Alhassan Umar, MP.
Speaking at the swearing-in, Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Mr. Jinapor urged the board to align the Foundation’s projects with GNPC’s corporate strategy and Ghana’s development priorities. He called on them to deliver initiatives that make a real difference in communities, improve transparency and governance, and position GNPC as a model of socially responsible energy development both locally and internationally.
The GNPC Foundation plays a central role in delivering social investments on behalf of the national oil company, focusing on education, health, infrastructure, and skills development. The Minister expressed confidence that the new leadership would ensure every investment creates shared value for both GNPC and the people of Ghana.
In a statement, the management and staff of the Foundation welcomed the new board, expressing optimism about what they described as a “bold reset agenda” for strategic and sustainable social impact.
