Former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George Kweku Toku Oduro, has been appointed to chair a 8-member committee for the National Education Forum.
Other members of the committee are Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D and Professor Smile Dzisi
The rest are Executive Director of Africa Education Watch Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu and Inusah Shiraz.
President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, has given the committee two weeks to submit its report and plan.
The committee’s Terms of Reference includes:
1. Developing a theme and sub-themes: to guide stakeholder engagement.
2. Identifying key stakeholders: including students, parents, teachers, researchers, and civil society organizations.
3. Developing a stakeholder activity agenda: with time allocations for thematic breakout sessions, plenaries, etc.
4. Proposing a venue and date(s): for the forum.
5. Setting up a secretariat: to document activities.
6. Providing a budget: for the National Education Forum.
7. Developing a comprehensive report: detailing findings and recommendations.
8. Drafting a national education policy framework: and proposing an action plan for implementing recommendations.
9. Considering other relevant issues: for organizing the forum.
The committee’s work is expected to fulfill President Mahama’s pledge to the people of Ghana.
