The Mampong Traditional Area has announced the nomination of Mr Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu as the new Mamponghene, bringing a wealth of global experience and academic excellence to one of Ashanti’s most revered stools.
Born on March 14, 1974, in Kumasi, Mr Osei-Bonsu is a proud alumnus of Prempeh College and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geometric Engineering. His quest for knowledge took him beyond Ghana’s borders, earning a Master’s degree in Geo-Information and Earth Observation from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, followed by a second Master’s in Computational Science and Engineering from the University of Munich, Germany.
With more than two decades of professional experience, Mr Osei-Bonsu has built a distinguished career in software development and geospatial systems strategy. He currently serves as the Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG, a leading geospatial solutions firm based in Germany.
His nomination to the Mampong Silver Stool has been received with optimism within the traditional council, with many describing him as a modern leader whose international exposure and technical expertise will bring innovation and strategic thinking to traditional governance.
Mr Osei-Bonsu is expected to continue the legacy of leadership, integrity, and service associated with the Mampong stool, while bridging the gap between heritage and modern development.
