A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communication Team, Eric Sosu, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the promotion of party loyalists within government institutions and agencies.
Speaking in an interview with Original TV, Sosu expressed concern that several known NDC supporters were sidelined and denied career progression during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. According to him, some of these individuals have now been promoted under the Mahama-led government—but only after years of stagnation under the NPP regime.
“Before John Dramani Mahama came to power, many NDC faithfuls were blocked from getting their due promotions under the previous administration. Now, some of these same people are being promoted—yes—but it’s not right that those who sacrificed and worked hard for the party’s return to power are being ignored,” Sosu stated.
He warned that such oversight could breed discontent and apathy among the party’s grassroots base, which was instrumental in the NDC’s 2024 electoral victory.
“If care is not taken, this can cause serious apathy for the party heading into the 2028 elections,” he cautioned.
Sosu emphasized the need for the Mahama administration to reward loyalty and dedication, especially among those who played active roles in campaigning and mobilizing for the NDC’s return to power.
His comments have sparked renewed discussion around party loyalty versus meritocracy in public sector appointments—a debate that often resurfaces after changes in government.
