Promoting Peace Through Music: Young Life Entertainment urges Bawku Artistes to champion peace

The Chief Executive Officer of Young Life Entertainment, Abanga Tahiru, has called on musicians and creative artists in Bawku and the wider Kusaug area to use their talents as instruments for peace, unity, and social cohesion.

Speaking at the 2026 Kusaug Music Awards (KMA) held in Zebilla, Mr. Tahiru emphasized the vital role music plays in shaping public opinion and fostering harmony within communities. He urged artists to become ambassadors of peace by producing songs that promote reconciliation, tolerance, and development.

According to him, musicians possess a powerful platform that can positively influence society, particularly at a time when communities need messages that encourage peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.

The 2026 Kusaug Music Awards brought together musicians, industry stakeholders, entertainment enthusiasts, and music lovers from across the Kusaug Traditional Area and beyond. The annual event celebrates outstanding achievements in the music industry while recognizing and rewarding artists for their creativity, hard work, and contributions to the growth of local music.

This year’s edition was held in honour of the late former Upper East Regional Minister and former Member of Parliament for Zebilla, John Ndebugri Akparibo, whose contributions to the development of the area continue to be remembered and celebrated.

One of the highlights of the night was the crowning of Wizgallado as the Artist of the Year, following an impressive year of musical success and impact. Several other artists and industry players were also honoured with awards and citations in recognition of their excellence in various categories.

The Kusaug Music Awards has increasingly become an important platform for promoting local talent, preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Kusaug people, and creating opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their abilities to a wider audience.

Organizers of the awards expressed gratitude to patrons, sponsors, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event. They further appealed to corporate institutions, development organizations, and philanthropists to support future editions of the awards to ensure its sustainability and continued growth.

They noted that increased support would help expand the event, enhance artist development initiatives, and further strengthen the entertainment industry within the Kusaug area and the Upper East Region as a whole.

The 2026 Kusaug Music Awards ended on a high note with performances from several talented artists, reaffirming the event’s commitment to celebrating music, culture, and peace through creativity.
