Qatar 2022: Ghanaians react to Andre Ayew’s penalty miss as Black Stars exit tournament

The Black Stars 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign was brought to a painful end following a 2-nil defeat to Uruguay.

However, losing the game did not hurt Ghanaians more than a penalty miss by Andre Ayew, the skipper of the men’s senior national team, barely twenty minutes into the game.

Playing against Uruguay in the last Group H game was branded a revenge due to a 2010 World Cup incident. But the penalty miss memorized the Black Stars leading to a two-goal defeat within five minutes.

Infuriated by the missed opportunity to get back at the Uruguayans, Ghanaians have taken to micro-blogging software application, Twitter to berate him.

Netizens seem to suggest that Andre Ayew has taken the mantle of insults from former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan who missed the penalty kick in 2010 against the same South American nation.
