Nigerian Music Star Rema Joins 2026 World Cup Entertainment Lineup

Nigerian music star Rema is preparing for one of the biggest moments of his career after being selected to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles.

The “Calm Down” hitmaker will share the global stage with international stars including LISA, Katy Perry, Tyla, Future and Anitta during the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 12, 2026.

FIFA announced the lineup in a social media post, describing the performers as a reflection of the cultural diversity and global influence of music across different communities.

For many African fans, Rema’s inclusion represents another proud milestone for Afrobeats on the world stage. From performing in small venues in Nigeria to now entertaining billions of football fans worldwide, the young artist’s rise continues to inspire many across the continent.

FIFA said the selected artistes represent the energy, diversity, and cultural richness that the United States and the global football community bring to the tournament.

“This lineup of artists reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas, highlighting the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment, and pop culture, while showcasing the power of music to bring people together across the country,” FIFA stated.

Meanwhile, excitement is also building around the tournament’s official anthem, “Dai Dai,” performed by Burna Boy and Shakira, which is scheduled for release on May 14.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is also expected to deliver a historic entertainment experience, with FIFA planning its first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show. The performance will reportedly be curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay ahead of the final on July 19.

For Rema, the World Cup performance is more than just another concert — it is a symbol of how African music continues to break boundaries and command attention on the biggest global stages.
