The Founder and Leader of Solid Rock Chapel International Rev. Dr. Christy Doe Tetteh, has added her voice to the call to temporally place ban on small-scale mining.
This, she said, will help the leaders to appropriately identify the illegal miners and deal with them according to the laws of the country.
Moved by the sordid state of some of the country’s major rivers, the Leader of Solid Rock Chapel International called on Ghanaians to unite in the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as Galamsey, saying “ that is the only way we can save our water bodies”
She emphasized the urgent need for citizens to recognize the dangers posed by the galamsey and those who engage in the practice to the country’s natural water sources.
Dr. Tetteh warned that it would be a grave mistake for Ghana, blessed with so much natural resources, and water bodies, to neglect the environmental degradation caused by illegal mining, while cautioning that “if leaders do not take decisive action, the country may soon find itself importing clean water”
“Ghanaians must wake up to fight this evil. It will be an error for Ghana to be so blessed with mineral resources, great water bodies and we dehumanize ourselves and do not care about our country. If the leaders don’t wake up, we will soon start importing clean water”
“Let us say no to Galamsey,” she stressed.
