Police in Ngleshie Amanfro are searching for a man believed to be the leader of a robbery gang who escaped from custody last Thursday.
The suspect, identified as a Nigerian national, was arrested earlier that morning along with two others by a police patrol team. The trio was handed over to Chief Inspector Dela Kumador and Constable Charles Tawiah at the Ngleshie Amanfro District Police Command.
According to police sources, the man managed to flee after he was allowed to use the restroom. Officers say a search has since been launched to track him down.
Investigations are ongoing to determine how the escape happened and whether any lapses in procedure contributed to it.
