Tensions ran high in the Bole Bamboi Municipality as irate youths took to the streets, setting worn-out tires ablaze in protest against the appointment of Abdulai Mahmud as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
The controversy surrounding Mahmud’s nomination has been brewing since April 24, sparking widespread discontent among the populace. A pressure group, Arise Bole Youth, has been vocal in demanding the revocation of his nomination, citing his lack of popularity among the people.
The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Council Bolewura Ketuge Feso I, earlier expressed opposition to Mahmud’s appointment when the youth called on him on 24 th April.

” Ladies and gentlemen, it is said that the power of a sheep lies in its waist. Where we ( old) are going is closer than where we have left. And if God calls people based on age, it is these youth who still many miles to trek on earth and so their stances is also ours”.
In an attempt to calm the situation, the Gonjaland Youth Association, a prominent youth group in the region, held a series of negotiations.
Despite efforts by the Gonjaland Youth Association to mediate through a series of negotiations, no resolution has been reached, leading to today’s protests..

As the protests escalated, the streets of the municipal capital were filled with the acrid smell of burning tires, and demonstrators called for Mahmud’s immediate withdrawal.
The situation remains volatile, with the future of Mahmud’s appointment hanging in the balance.
