Former Vice National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Omari Wadie, has taken a swipe at GoldBod CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, accusing him of using money to silence critics and deflect attention from national crises, including Ghana’s perennial flooding problem.
Speaking on Accra-based Original TV during an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei (Pato), Omari Wadie alleged that Sammy Gyamfi has a pattern of distributing dollars to influential stakeholders to hush serious national concerns.
“In this country, the issue of flooding will soon be resolved – not because of any plan or engineering solution – but because Sammy Gyamfi will distribute dollars to make the problem disappear,” he remarked sarcastically.
Omari Wadie did not provide evidence to back his claims but insisted that the approach of Sammy Gyamfi and the current NDC leadership revolves around “buying silence” rather than addressing real problems with practical solutions.
According to him, this alleged method of managing public discourse has been a recurring trend since the NDC came into power. “This is how they’ve operated – distract, pay off, and move on. No real commitment to solving the root issues affecting Ghanaians,” he added.
As Ghana enters the rainy season, flooding remains a major concern, especially in urban centres like Accra, where poor drainage systems and unplanned settlements exacerbate the problem year after year.
