This request follows the maturity of the 15-year investment made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on behalf of the team, which reached maturity on January 4, 2025.
The invitation was issued in a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana FA and was also copied to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. A total of GH₵210,000 was invested for the 21 players, with each player receiving GH₵10,000 in 2009.
“This investment has matured after 15 years, and players can begin collecting their cheques from the SAS Office in Accra starting January 8, 2025,” said SAS in a statement sent to GFA.
“To collect their cheques, players are required to present a valid Ghana Card for identification. If a player is unable to collect their cheque in person, they may authorize a third party by providing a notarized Power of Attorney,” the statement added.
The SAS Office is located on the 14th floor of the World Trade Centre on Independence Avenue, Accra.
Additionally, the investment package included an annual insurance cover for each player, providing life and health-related benefits over the 15-year period.
The Black Satellites’ triumph in the 2009 U-20 World Cup remains a landmark achievement in Ghanaian football, marking the nation’s first and only U-20 World Cup title to date.
