The Savannah Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for the arrest of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Ibrahimah, and eight others over their alleged involvement in a violent altercation in Salaga on Thursday, September 5.
“We will want to politely, kindly and respectfully entreat the Salaga Divisional Police Commander to direct the fine men and women of the service, to work by effecting the arrest of the hoodlums,” Fredrick Abukari Tahiru, Savannah Regional Communications Director said.
The NPP alleges that Hajia Zuwera met with some hoodlums, supporters of the NDC, in a liquor bar, where they were treated to several shots of hard liquor, and instructed them to attack supporters of the NPP.
“Their main task for the following day, was to attack, wound, maim or possibly kill supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party,” the statement reads.
The NPP claims that the hoodlums, armed with stones, machetes, guns, and other deadly weapons, unleashed violence on some members of the NPP, resulting in injuries and hospitalization.
“Some innocent citizens were callously attacked and wounded, which resulted in their hospitalization,” the statement says.
The NPP has also called for Hajia Zuwera to be kept in solitary confinement, accusing her of drinking from “John Mahama’s dark flask” and embarrassing her “Hajia” title.
“The very moment some members within her own party alerted us that, she is now drinking from that dark flask, there we knew, she will never get well again,” the statement reads.
The NPP has listed the eight individuals to be arrested as:
1. Samadu Kanyasewura
2. Mubarik Afordo
3. Jafa Padigo
4. Fuseini Jango
5. Armiyaw Teacher
6. Alhassan Lepo
7. Shaka Lepo
8. One Lantinkpa boy residing in Jawula’s house
The NPP have however vowed to protect their lives and property as the NDC 3 days ultimate to the Savannah regional minister elapses today.
“We will defend and protect the lives and properties of our gallant supporters at all cost. Not even the smallest amongst us will be treated as if stricken with leprosy”.
