Security Lapse in Parliament: Expert Calls for Resignation of Head of Security

In a shocking incident yesterday, a man was arrested for allegedly smashing the windscreens of several vehicles parked within the premises of Parliament.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspect, whose identity has not yet been revealed, moving among the parked vehicles and using a metal object to shatter the windscreens. The motive behind the act remains unclear.

Speaking on Original Television News in Accra, Anthony Acquaye, a Security Expert at the Centre for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy, expressed grave concerns over the incident. “This is a clear breach of the security architecture in Parliament,” Acquaye stated. “The head of security in Parliament must resign.”

Acquaye’s call for resignation underscores the severity of the security lapse and highlights the need for immediate action to prevent future incidents. The incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of the current security measures in place at such a critical institution.
