Ghana came to a standstill on Sunday as thousands gathered in solemn remembrance of the legendary Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka — inventor, industrialist, philanthropist, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana — at his 40th-day commemoration held at the University of Ghana Sports Complex Park.
The emotional ceremony drew dignitaries, politicians, religious leaders, industry players, and devoted followers from across Ghana and beyond — all united in paying tribute to the man celebrated as the “Star of Africa.”
Clad in striking red and black, attendees joined in a day-long programme of hymns, prayers, and heartfelt tributes honouring Apostle Safo’s extraordinary life and legacy.
Among the mourners were Sarah Adwoa Safo Esq., former MP for Dome-Kwabenya, her siblings, members of the Aduana family of Essumangya and Asantemanso, and a large contingent from the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Born on August 26, 1948, the revered Apostle’s impact spanned technology, agriculture, and spiritual development. Through the Kantanka Group of Companies, he championed homegrown innovation, producing the Kantanka Omama SUV, Onantefo pickup, and several mechanized farming tools that redefined Ghana’s industrial potential.
Beyond industry, Apostle Safo’s spiritual leadership built a faith-driven movement grounded in discipline, unity, and innovation — inspiring generations to believe in African-made solutions.
The 40th-day commemoration was not only a farewell — it was a celebration of genius, faith, and African pride, befitting a man whose vision transformed a nation and continues to light the path for many.
