President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to completing several stalled healthcare projects that were initiated under his previous administration.
Delivering a speech at the Mahama Fellowships with the Clergy event at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Great Hall on Sunday, March 2, President Mahama noted that one of the key projects still pending is the Sewua Hospital, which he assured would be completed this year.
“I have assured Otumfuor that we will complete the Sewua Hospital this year,” he said.
The completion of this hospital, according to the president, is crucial for relieving pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, one of Ghana’s largest and busiest healthcare facilities. With the Sewua Hospital operational, the president emphasized that it would allow Komfo Anokye to focus on important rehabilitation works, improving the quality of care for patients.
In addition to the Sewua Hospital, Mahama also addressed the stalled Afari Military Hospital project.
He confirmed that he had spoken with the managers of Eurojet Investment, the contractors for the project, and received assurances that work would resume promptly.
“I have spoken to the managers of Euroget De Invest, who are the contractors, and they have assured me that they will resume work in earnest at the Afari Military Hospital and ensure the speedy completion of that facility,” he said.
