Special Voting underway in Western, Eastern Regions after initial postponement

Special voting is currently underway in the Western and Eastern Regions, after the Electoral Commission (EC) rescheduled the exercise from its initial date of December 2.

The EC took the decision to postpone the special voting after a leakage of ballot papers was detected in the two regions. The Commission subsequently ordered a recall and reprinting of the ballot papers.

Speaking ahead of the exercise, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, Dr Bossman Asare, assured that the Commission was ready for the special voting.

“The Electoral Commission is very much ready for the special voting today. All the materials that are required for the elections have been dispatched to the two regions,” he said.

Dr. Asare added that there would be 33 voting centres in the Eastern Region and 17 in the Western Region, urging all registered special voters in these areas to participate in the process.
