SSNIT Hotel Sale: JUSAG strike still on despite reported cancellation

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has announced that the planned nationwide strike scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2024, is still ongoing despite reports that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has terminated the sale of its stake in hotels.

According to a statement signed by Abdulai Yakubu, General Secretary of JUSAG, Organized Labour will meet on Monday to consider the new development and the way forward.

The statement emphasized that until a new decision is reached and communicated by Organized Labour, the planned strike continues, and no staff is expected to report to work on Monday.

The National President of JUSAG, Mr. Samuel Afotey Otu, and the executive council assured members that they will continue to uphold decisions that are in the best interest of staff.

The strike was called over SSNIT’s plans to sell 60% of its stake in hotels, which Organized Labour opposed. However, with the termination of the sale, the fate of the strike hangs in the balance.
