St. Peter’s Senior High School has been crowned champion of the 2025 National Cybersecurity Challenge after a tense and exciting final that tested the digital skills of three top-performing schools, OLA Girls Senior High, St. Peter’s Senior High, and St. Monica’s Senior High.
The annual competition is part of Ghana’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, an initiative led by the Cyber Security Authority to promote safe online habits and raise awareness about digital threats among students and young people.
At the end of the final round, St. Peter’s stood out with their strong grasp of cyber safety, threat detection, and digital forensics. OLA Girls took second place, while St. Monica’s finished third.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, the Director for Innovation, Emmanuel Ofori, praised the students for their creativity and problem-solving skills in tackling cybersecurity challenges.
He said the competition reflects the government’s commitment to building a safe and resilient digital environment where young people can play an active role in Ghana’s digital transformation.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all contestants for the passion and knowledge you have shown throughout this competition,” Mr. Ofori said. “Your performance shows that Ghana’s young people are not just consumers of technology but defenders of our digital future.”
He added that cybersecurity awareness is key to empowering citizens, especially the youth, to protect themselves and others online. Mr. Ofori also emphasized the need for collaboration among government, private sector players, schools, and international partners to strengthen digital skills and national capacity against cyber threats.
The National Cybersecurity Challenge continues to serve as a platform to identify and develop young talent in cybersecurity, encourage critical thinking, and inspire interest in ICT careers. It has become a key part of Ghana’s effort to build local expertise and promote responsible digital citizenship in an increasingly connected world.
