Stage acting is my lifelong passion that sustains me – Fred Amugi

Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has reaffirmed his passion for stage acting, calling it what keeps him alive.

Speaking in an interview on Mx24 on May 5, 2026, Amugi said his ongoing stage work plays a key role in his happiness and well-being.

“Till now, I’m still doing the stage, which is keeping me alive,” he shared.

For Amugi, acting isn’t just a job it’s a lifelong passion that sustains him emotionally and financially. “Acting is my life, and it’s the main thing that puts food on my table,” he added.

He finds joy in the daily discipline of learning new lines, noting that it keeps his mind open and active. The actor emphasizes that “mingling with all sorts of people,” both younger and older than himself, is a major source of his personal happiness.

His journey began on the stage in 1969 at Nungua Secondary School, and he maintains that this foundation shaped his discipline and precision.
