Lawyers representing Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) at the Presidency, have demanded a retraction and apology from Neat FM over what they describe as defamatory claims made during a broadcast.
A letter from R.O. Solomon Consulting, addressed to Neat FM’s presenter Adakabre Frimpong Manso, cited a broadcast in which it was alleged that Mr. Dogbe and Callistus Mahama had “hijacked” government appointments without the knowledge of President John Dramani Mahama.
The letter further accusedAdakabre Frimpong Manso of stating that National Democratic Congress (NDC) members were looking for Dr. Mahama to “beat him up” over the alleged appointments.
The lawyers dismissed the claims as “pure fabrications” meant to tarnish the image of President Mahama and his administration.
They insisted that Mr. Dogbe had not altered any appointment letters nor engaged in any activity that could cause public disaffection.
They further criticized the station for failing to seek Mr. Dogbe’s response before broadcasting the claims, describing the reportage as “vile and blatant untruth.”
The solicitors have given Neat FM three days to retract the statement and issue an unqualified apology on air with the same prominence as the original broadcast.
The letter, copied to senior officials of Despite Media, warns of further legal action should the station fail to comply.
