Intercity STC Coaches Limited has responded to a petition from the Union leadership, addressing concerns raised over appointing a new Deputy Managing Director and other matters affecting the company.
In a statement signed by Anita Abaka-Sika, Public Relations Officer, the company acknowledged the arrears in workers’ provident contributions, which date back to 2011, but assured that the arrears have been reduced to four years, with efforts underway to clear the remaining balance.
The company also explained that the aged fleet, which has been a concern for the Union, is being replaced, with two delegations set to travel to China and Turkey to finalize arrangements for new buses.
Additionally, the company reported progress in reducing its debt to ADB from GHC140 million to GHC80 million, with a monthly payment of GHC2 million.
The ISTC Board is set to meet with Union leaders on Thursday, June 6, 2024, to address workers’ anxieties over the new appointment and resolve the issues raised in the petition.
