#StopGalamseyNow Demo: Police deny forcing accused to re-enact scene at 37 intersection

The Ghana Police Service has dismissed claims that they forced accused persons to re-enact a protest at the 37 Intersection.

The police described the allegations in a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, as untrue.

According to the police, crime scene reconstruction is a standard practice used by law enforcement agencies worldwide and is in full compliance with their established procedures.

“The Ghana Police Service has been using this practice since time immemorial,” the statement noted.

The statement also emphasized that the accused persons were informed of their right to have legal representation during the crime scene reconstruction process.

While some opted to participate without their lawyers present, others insisted on their right to legal representation, and the reconstruction process for these individuals is yet to be conducted.

They urged the public to disregard the allegations, viewing them as another attempt to create disaffection towards the police.
