Strive for diligence- Alhassan Suhuyini to Govt

Tamale North Constituency lawmaker, Alhassan Suhuyini,  has urged the government to strive for diligence in their offices and desist from vain activities that do not warrant profitability.

He said the Akufo-Addo led administration will answer questions on their stewardship in due time.

He was counteracting a point made by a colleague panel, Bernard Okoe Boye, suggesting that the ruling NPP must be given thumps up for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic which has caused a global scourge.

Disclaiming his opponent’s position, the NDC legislator noted that the assumption by his compatriot is one of the ploys by people in governance to move from real issues.

“Rather it goes to confirm the positions that I have always held that the government seems to be behind. They seem to be too late in the actions that they take they seem to be reactive, they focused more on announced policies, programs and very late and nonchalant when it even comes to implementing those programs and policies which sound very beautiful,” he added.

Suhuyini said the government’s interest is to profit from the pandemic adding “perhaps moving forward that has to change because if people think that they can get away with some of the infractions especially the procurement infractions that they are engaged in. They have to think again.”

Stressing on the ‘day’ of accountability, the NDC scribe noted that it is for an appointed time but that day shall surely come.

“I mean, it is said and I believe it to be true that ‘the wheels of justice run slowly’ but eventually gets to its destination. And so if you have a certain protection today and you think that protection will be around forever and because of that in the name of we are not in normal times just engage in blatant corruption and get away with it. I think we have to think again. Let us focus on fighting the virus and doing so at minimal cost when you do not have to beg the state coffers unnecessarily and that is in my view a more responsible way of dealing with this,” he emphasized
