Outgoing Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) abysmal performance in the 2024 general elections to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s mismanagement of the economy.
He claimed the party’s fate was sealed in the last quarter of 2022 when 90 MPs, including himself, urged President Akufo-Addo to relieve Ofori-Atta of his duties.
“We lost this General Election in the last quarter of 2022…the 90 MPs who mustered COURAGE and called on the President to RELIEVE the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his position due to his mismanagement of our economy,” Eugene Boakye Antwi wrote on Facebook.
He emphasized that keeping Ofori-Atta in office until February 2024 demonstrated the party’s disregard for its constituents, ultimately leading to their severe punishment at the polls.
Eugene Boakye Antwi also highlighted the alarming voter apathy, citing that almost a third of registered voters (6 million) abstained from voting.
This development, he implied, was a clear indication of the electorate’s dissatisfaction with the NPP’s economic management.
