Sulu Investments donate GH¢101,000 to support breast cancer fight in Ghana

Sulu Investments Limited, producers of Nero Beverages and Nero Prime Water, has donated GH¢101,000 to the Breast Society of Ghana to support breast cancer treatment, patient care and awareness campaigns in the country.

The donation forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at improving breast cancer awareness and supporting affected patients.

Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Sulu Investments Limited, Manabhanjan Pattnaik, expressed concern about Ghana’s low breast cancer survival rate compared to developed countries.

According to him, available statistics point to a significant gap in survival outcomes, largely due to the late detection of the disease.

He noted that many breast cancer cases in Ghana are diagnosed at advanced stages, making treatment more difficult and reducing patients’ chances of survival.

Mr Pattnaik also identified financial constraints as one of the major reasons many women delay or avoid treatment. He explained that the GH¢101,000 donation marks the company’s first official contribution under the initiative, with further donations expected every quarter.

Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh, renewed calls for year-round breast cancer awareness and stronger support systems for patients.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Breast Society of Ghana, President of the Society, Dr Josephine Nsaful, called for an end to the stigma surrounding breast cancer.

She warned that fear and discrimination continue to prevent many patients from seeking early treatment.

The Breast Society of Ghana is expected to use the funds to support treatment, aftercare services and nationwide awareness campaigns as stakeholders continue to advocate for early detection and improved breast cancer survival rates in Ghana.
