A portion of an ongoing storm drain project in Abetifi Zongo, Sunyani, has collapsed before completion, leaving residents in shock.
The World Bank-sponsored project, under the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, aimed to construct reinforced concrete storm drains and level a three-acre old dump site.
The contractor, Cephas K. Company Limited, and the supervising consultant, Architectural and Engineering Services Limited, have been blamed for the collapse.
In an exclusive interview with Metro TV, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Ansu Kumi confirmed the incident, stating that the contractor would bear any extra costs and ensure the project’s completion on schedule.
The MCE advised residents to exercise patience and assured them that he had spoken with the contractor to ensure quality work.
Assembly Member for Zongo Electoral Area, Abdul Ikad Issah, and residents expressed their concerns and disappointment over the project’s collapse.
