Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornooto announced that the Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on the vacant seats case today, Tuesday, November 12.
This decision comes after the conclusion of arguments presented by the plaintiff and the Attorney-General, who also serves as the Minister for Justice.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing the Speaker of Parliament failed to submit their statement of case and were absent from court proceedings on Monday.
The Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame expressed strong disapproval of the Speaker’s legal team’s actions, particularly criticizing Thaddeus Sory, the Speaker’s lawyer, for his absence.
Godfred Dame argued that Mr. Sory’s failure to appear in court or submit the required documents demonstrated a lack of respect for the judicial process.
The Attorney-General urged the court to take a serious stance on this conduct, suggesting that it undermines the court’s authority and the due process in such a significant case.
