A man suspected of stealing five doors from Uber vehicles has been arrested by residents at Madina Zongo Junction after he allegedly returned to the same area to steal another vehicle door just hours later.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly removed and stole five doors from Uber vehicles in the area at about 2:00 a.m. The stolen doors were reportedly sold after the theft.
Residents said the suspect returned to the area at around 8:00 a.m. in an apparent attempt to steal another vehicle door. This time, however, members of the community recognised him and quickly apprehended him before he could escape.
When confronted, the suspect reportedly admitted to stealing the vehicle doors and pleaded for forgiveness.
Some angry residents allegedly slapped him several times before handing him over to the police for further investigation.
Police are expected to investigate the allegations and determine the circumstances surrounding the reported thefts.
