Takoradi pregnancy: Everyone can testify the evidence of pregnancy – Peter Toobu

A member of the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament has indicated that symptoms of pregnancy are evidence in an individual, throwing cold water on claims Mrs. Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the center of the Takoradi pregnancy scandal was never pregnant.

Superintendent Rtd. Peter Lanchene Toobu said pregnant women go through certain conditions that change the body and that they are clear to establish one is pregnant.

Peter Toobu was condemning the actions of the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah for suggesting that Josephine Mensah’s pregnancy was a hoax ahead of the Police official announcement.

Pointing the wrong of the Regional Minister on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, Thursday, the Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency said Ghanaians are waiting for the truth to be unveiled.

“What happened in Takoradi is quite an interesting scenario that we are all watching unravel itself,” he told Francisca Kakra Forson on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

He said no one can be deceived to believe a false pregnancy because everyone who lives around the person will see the baby bump of the supposed pregnant person.

“I mean, if somebody is pregnant, we all know what pregnancy is about. If somebody is pregnant the community in which the person lives people will get to know,” he pointed.

The NDC legislator indicated that it will show that a woman has been pregnant before even when circumstances force the individual to labor.

“And even if you’re under forced labor, any woman that goes through forced labor after nine months, it doesn’t matter what happens to the baby. Your physiological outlook, your whole body will demonstrate that you were once pregnant. Even your breast will show. All of us know,” Mr. Toobu averred.

Mr. Toobu said based on these truisms, it didn’t demand a statement from the government official that can convince anyone of the signs of pregnancy.

“So, there are basic things that ordinary persons can look at and say, this woman was pregnant. I was so disappointed when I heard the Regional Minister behaving like he is the Police PRO,” he added.
