Teacher aims for record-breaking Read-a-Thon to revive declining reading habit

Madam Solomey Kwabea Agyei, an English teacher at Kofuko Army JHS in the Jaman South District, Bono Region, is embarking on a 7-day non-stop reading marathon from 25th May to 31st May to set the world record for the longest continuous reading session.

Madam Solomey, a passionate advocate for literacy, hopes to inspire, motivate, and encourage a reading habit among students across the globe, especially in Ghana.

She expressed concern about the difficulty students face in reading and constructing good sentences.

Her effort is not just about gaining recognition but also about drawing attention to the declining reading habits among today’s students.

She hopes that by doing so, the world will find better solutions to this issue.

Madam Solomey is also calling on all stakeholders to support her Read, Spell, and Literacy Foundation, which aims to promote literacy and provide resources for students in need.
