Ten private investors have shown interest in Saglemi Housing project – Oppong Nkrumah

Ten private investors, both local and foreign, have expressed interest in taking over and completing the Saglemi housing project, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Works and Housing, has announced.

According to the Minister, the government decided to seek private investment to complete the project due to an additional funding requirement of $100 million to complete the 1,500 housing units.

The project, which was initially funded with a $200 million loan, was expected to deliver 5,000 housing units, but only 1,506 units were built.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah assured that the selection process for the private partner would begin on July 8, 2024, and would be transparent until the contract is awarded with cabinet approval.

The Minister made this known at a press conference in Parliament to brief the media on the private partnership contract.
