TGMA Album of the Year winner to get GHC100,000 from Guinness Ghana

Guinness Ghana has announced a new annual prize package for the winner of the Album or EP of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, in a move aimed at strengthening support for Ghana’s music industry.

Starting from the 27th edition of the awards, the winning artiste will receive GHC100,000 in cash, funding support for a music video for their next project, and a curated album listening experience supported by Guinness Ghana.

The company says the initiative is part of its wider commitment to creative excellence and long term investment in the country’s entertainment industry. It adds that it wants to go beyond awards night recognition and help artistes build sustained value from their work.

Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, said the Album or EP of the Year category represents the highest form of artistic expression, highlighting storytelling and musical identity.

She said the new package is designed to recognise excellence while investing in the future of artistes and the wider industry.

Guinness Ghana has been a long standing supporter of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, and says the new intervention strengthens the importance of albums and EPs as lasting creative works.

The listening experience component of the package is also expected to create more engagement between artistes, industry players and audiences, while increasing visibility for the winning project.

Organisers of the awards have welcomed the initiative. Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, said it aligns with efforts to celebrate and elevate Ghanaian music while providing tangible support for artistes.

He said it also reinforces the value of albums as complete creative bodies of work.

This year’s nominees for Album or EP of the Year include Black Sherif with Iron Boy, Stonebwoy with Torcher, Gyakie with After Midnight, Medikal with Disturbation II, Wendy Shay with Ready, and Kweku Smoke with Walk With Me.

The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is produced by Charterhouse, with support from Telecel, media partnership from TV3, and sponsorship support from Guinness.
