President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s flagship development framework, the Accra Reset, is gaining significant global traction, with its latest milestone set for the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
In a post shared on Tuesday, January 20, President Mahama announced that the Accra Reset will feature prominently at a high-level side event at the WEF dubbed “The Davos Convening”, scheduled for Thursday, 22 January 2026.
According to him, the event will be co-hosted with former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, underscoring the growing continental and international backing for the initiative.
“The Accra Reset arrives in Davos. Together with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, I will host The Davos Convening, a high-level Accra Reset side event at the 2026 World Economic Forum,” Mr Mahama wrote.
President Mahama noted that since its official launch at the United Nations General Assembly last year, the Accra Reset has recorded what he described as “extraordinary” momentum, evolving into a platform for African-led responses to global and regional challenges.
The Accra Reset is becoming a rallying point for African-led solutions to our continent’s challenges and opportunities,” he stated.
Mr Mahama explained that the Davos meeting will bring together global leaders with the aim of strengthening partnerships and accelerating the implementation of the agenda.
“At The Davos Convening, I’ll be joined by other global leaders to expand the convening power of the Accra Reset, build strategic partnerships for implementation and demonstrate Africa and the global south’s leadership in shaping global solutions,” he added.
Framing the initiative as part of a broader shift in global influence, Mr Mahama concluded with a strong message of optimism about Africa’s role on the world stage.
“The world is watching. Africa is rising. And the Accra Reset is charting the path forward.”
The Accra Reset is positioned as a reform-oriented framework aimed at redefining Africa’s engagement with the global system, with a focus on sustainable development, equity and African ownership of solutions.
