The New Force apologizes for bodyguard’s assault on supporter in Mampong

The New Force, a political movement in Ghana, has apologized following a disturbing incident in which one of its security personnel physically assaulted a supporter who was attempting to speak with their presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known as Cheddar, at a funeral at Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Charles Yomekpe, the movement expressed deep sadness and disturbance over the incident, which was captured on video.

“We are deeply saddened and disturbed by a recent incident captured on video in which a member of the security team assigned to our presidential candidate was seen physically assaulting a supporter who was merely attempting to speak with the candidate,” the statement read.

The movement condemned the behavior, describing it as “unacceptable, unjustifiable, and entirely out of line with the values we hold.”

The New Force emphasized that no individual, supporter or otherwise, should be subjected to violence, especially in a democratic environment where engagement and expression are to be protected.

The New Force has launched investigation into the incident and assured the public that the perpetrator will be held fully accountable under the law and internal disciplinary processes.

“We have launched an immediate investigation into the incident, and we assure the public that the perpetrator will be held fully accountable under the law and internal disciplinary processes,” the statement said.

The movement also thanked the public for bringing the matter to light and for holding them to high standards.
