The newly-appointed Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has welcomed criticisms following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.
The Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) is a statutory body established by the Government of Ghana to promote and protect the interests of shippers in Ghana.
The senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon was appointed to the position in a letter signed by President Mahama’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Calistus Mahama.
However, his appointment has fetched him an avalanche of unfettered social media criticisms and insults, with some critics accusing him of being a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) despite his claims of neutrality.
In a Facebook post sighted by Metro TV on January 30, 2025, Professor Gyampo addressed the backlash, admitting that “there can be no neutrality when one is tasked to help right what is wrong in the service of the NATION.”
Prof. Gyampo also expressed gratitude to President Mahama and acknowledged the congratulatory messages he received.
The Ghana Shippers Authority’s main objectives are: protecting the interests of shippers in Ghana, promoting fair shipping practices, regulating shipping services, providing support services to shippers, facilitating trade development, etc.
