The maiden edition of the Metro TV Jollof Festival successfully fed thousands of people in Accra and its surrounding communities on Saturday, December 20.
The event, held at the Metro TV car park at North Ridge, attracted large crowds who gathered early to fully participate in the festival. Many attendees queued patiently, while others sat under canopies provided by the organisers, awaiting their turn to receive plates of free jollof served by staff of Ghana’s Number One television station, Metro TV.
The Jollof Festival forms part of Metro TV’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at giving back to the public during the Christmas festivities and promoting unity through food.
From steaming pots of rice to smiling faces in the crowd, the festival offered a rich visual experience that reflected the essence of Ghanaian—and by extension African—food culture and social bonding.
Laughter, lively conversations and spontaneous debates over the “best jollof” filled the atmosphere, reinforcing the communal spirit of the event. Attendees eagerly queued with plates in hand, while others gathered around the cooking stations to observe cooking techniques and share their opinions.
Some of the most memorable moments came from candid scenes of chefs intensely focused over their pots, children reacting joyfully to their first bites of jollof, judges engaged in deep discussions, and friends proudly posing with their plates of food.
