Three arrested in attempted assassination of Gomoa Wassa Gyasehene

Police at the Gomoa Dawurampong Divisional Command have arrested three suspects, including an alleged NDC government appointee, in connection with an attempted assassination of the Gyasehene of Gomoa Wassa, Nana Kwesi Essel Okyea hene.

The arrests follow last week’s attack on the traditional leader, which triggered a police manhunt for nine suspects believed to have taken part in the plot. Three of those suspects have now been picked up.

The suspects have been identified as Abeiku, Kojo Wassa and Francis Tetteh. Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to track down the remaining suspects.

Speaking to the media after meeting the divisional crime officer, the Obaatan of Gomoa Wassa, Nana Adwoa Nkum, said statements have been taken from the suspects to aid investigations. She commended the police for the swift arrests and urged them to intensify efforts to arrest the rest of the suspects.

She appealed for calm in the community and expressed confidence in the police to ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Gomoa Wassa Youth, Samuel Nana Kwabena Obo, called for peace and unity, saying stability is crucial for the area’s development.
