The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has expressed deep concerns over the recent travels of President John Dramani Mahama, citing inconveniences and risks associated with the lack of reliable airline arrangements.
As frequent global travelers for importing goods, TAGG understands the frustrations and trauma that come with such arrangements.
“We cannot afford another tragedy or national calamity before action is taken,” Nana Opoku, General Secretary of TAGG stated in a statement.
“The Presidency is an institution that must be safeguarded at all costs. Protecting the President is equivalent to protecting the sovereignty and future of Ghana” he added.
TAGG is calling on the government and Parliament of Ghana to immediately procure a modern, state-of-the-art aircraft to ensure the president’s safety and dignity, as well as restore national pride.
“This is not a request, it’s a demand on behalf of the people of Ghana who deserve better,” Nana Opoku emphasized.
The group believes the aircraft should be a national asset, not a partisan tool, and that the government must ensure value for money by acquiring durable, modern equipment.
“The safety of the President is non-negotiable. The dignity of Ghana must be upheld internationally,” TAGG asserted.
