Trades committee of Parliament blocks GH¢80m fund for National Cathedral Project

Parliament’s Trades, Industry and Tourism committee has blocked the allocation of 80 million cedis for constructing the National Cathedral.

This comes after the minister of tourism, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awal failed to provide convincing answers on what the monies were going to be used for, and a justification of the 339 million cedis so far spent on the project at a December 20 sitting of the Committee.

Tamale Central MP Murtala Mohammed who spoke to Metro Tv’s Parliamentary correspondent Abdallah Mohammed urged the Minister to wash his hands off the Cathedral construction. Noting that he may be liable for future legal suites.
