Police have arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting that killed a 54-year-old man and left his wife injured at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba in the Ga South Municipality.
The two suspects, Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were arrested following investigations into the killing of Mohammed Rahman and the shooting of his 53-year-old wife, Christiana Fosu, on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot and wounded at the estate and immediately sent a team to the scene.
Police found the couple with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
They were taken to Finney Hospital in Weija, where Mr Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife was referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and remains on admission receiving treatment.
Mr Rahman’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
During interrogation, police said Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted to shooting the couple. He reportedly told investigators that he had been affected mentally by what he described as repeated comments from Mr Rahman that he was lazy and useless.
The suspect later led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where police recovered a pistol allegedly used in the shooting. The weapon had reportedly been hidden beneath the wall drop of the room.
Investigators also established that the two brothers lived in the same room at the estate.
Adams Adder Almeida told police that the pistol had allegedly been given to him by a friend, identified as Gideon. Investigators went to Gideon’s residence at Tuba but did not find him there.
Police said efforts were continuing to locate Gideon to assist with the investigation, while Bala Bilyon remained in custody for questioning.
The arrests were made with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Ghana Police Service.
The investigation is continuing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and the involvement of the other person being sought.
