Two people have been killed and six others injured in a road crash involving a truck, a bus and a tricycle at Dr. Marbel Junction in Suhum on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The crash happened on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after a DAF truck reportedly lost control and collided with a VW Sprinter bus and a tricycle that was parked by the roadside.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said preliminary investigations suggest that brake failure caused the truck to lose control.
Firefighters who responded to the scene rescued one person who had become trapped beneath the DAF truck. The injured victim was taken to Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
The tricycle was completely destroyed in the crash, while the DAF truck and the Sprinter bus sustained partial damage.
The incident has once again raised concerns about vehicle safety on the busy Accra–Kumasi Highway, where heavy trucks, commercial vehicles and other road users share the route.
The GNFS has urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are regularly serviced, particularly their braking systems, and to exercise caution while driving.
The identities of the two people who died and the conditions of the six injured victims have not been disclosed.
