Two ex-convicts among five arrested over robbery plot at Kasoa

Five suspected robbers, including two ex-convicts, have been arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command over a series of alleged robbery operations in Kasoa, Millennium City and Agona Swedru.

Police said the suspects were planning another attack when intelligence officers intercepted them during a surveillance operation on 9th May 2026.

The suspects are Bismark Amponsah, also known as Dotcom, 32, a driver; Abdul Razak Ibrahim, known as Langa, 32; Michael Annor Baah, also known as Money, 29; Razak Jibril, also known as Salaala, 53, a trader; and Nana Yaw Bediako, 46, also a trader.

According to police, Mr Jibril previously served a 25 year prison sentence for robbery and was released in 2023, while Mr Bediako served 15 years for a similar offence and was released in 2024.

The Central East Regional Police Command said the arrests followed sustained intelligence led operations by officers from the Police Intelligence Department.

Weapons and ammunition were retrieved during the operation in Kasoa and Agona Swedru, including a pump action gun with 54 BB cartridges, a foreign pistol loaded with 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a taser with three magazines.

The suspects were arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Tuesday and remanded into police custody. They are expected to reappear in court on 27 May 2026.

The Central East Regional Police Commander, Francis Nchor, said investigators were pursuing another suspect believed to be coordinating robbery activities from the Ankaful Prisons.

He said the command remained committed to fighting crime and called on the public to support police efforts with credible information.
