Two police officers interdicted over professional misconduct

The Ghana Police Service has charged two of its personnel with misconduct.

PW/Inspr Martha Ackah and No. 6233 PW/Sergeant Felicia Ocran of the Asokwa Divisional MTTD in Kumasi were caught on camera extorting money from a driver.

In a viral video available to Metro TV Online, the two officers are seen engaging with a driver who, unbeknownst to them, is filming their interaction.

If the motorist failed to comply, one of the cops threatened to take him to the Asokwa Police Station. The driver then gave over some cash.

In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service signed by the Public Affairs Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, said a full inquiry into the situation would be started.

They further said that following the investigations, disciplinary action would be taken.

“We would like to urge the affected victims to come forward and support Police investigation to enable us take the officers through the due process of the law as we seek to ensure that our officers uphold the highest form of professional standards,” the statement added.
