U.S. Embassy in Accra closes today for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The United States Embassy in Accra will be closed today, Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a U.S. federal holiday.

In a notice shared on its official social media platforms, the Embassy announced that it would suspend operations for the day.

“The U.S. Embassy in Accra will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day – a U.S. federal holiday.”

The post further assured the public that normal services would resume the following day,.

“We will reopen on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.”

The closure affects routine consular services, including visa processing and public inquiries. Emergency services for U.S. citizens may still be available through designated channels.
