Three people have been killed in a head-on collision between an Accra-to-Bawku-bound VVIP bus and a Toyota Sienta near Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday at Saka, a community in the Bawku West District.
The Toyota Sienta, with registration number UE 302-25, was travelling from Bawku to Bolgatanga when it collided with the VVIP bus heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Toyota Sienta was among those who died. Several other victims sustained injuries.
The deceased and injured were taken to the Bawku West District Hospital in Zebilla, where the injured are receiving treatment and the bodies of the deceased have been preserved.
Sources said the Toyota Sienta driver, popularly known as “P Pant”, had acquired the vehicle only last month and had recently begun operating from the station.
The identities of the other victims have not yet been released.
Police in the Bawku West District, together with the Ghana National Fire Service, have begun investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
