UG SRC disqualifies Guru from presidential race

The University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC) has disqualified Ghanaian rapper, Maradona Adjei Yeboah, known in showbiz circles as Guru, from contesting the presidential election.

A communique issued by the UG SRC stated that Guru failed to meet the eligibility criteria, citing his non-residential status.

The Vetting Committee’s report indicated that Guru and Lawrence Edinam Egleh confirmed their non-residential status during vetting, disqualifying them from contesting.

According to the UG SRC Constitution, Article 30 (1) (a), a student must reside in a university hall to occupy a leadership position.

The Committee concluded that Guru and Egleh do not meet the criteria, rendering them ineligible for Executive Officer positions.
