The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that the United Kingdom will transition to Electronic Visas (E-Visas) starting January 1, 2025.
This change will replace all current physical visa documentation.
“Effective 1st January 2025, the UK Government will be transitioning to Electronic Visas (E-Visas). This change will replace all current physical visa documentation,” the Ministry quoted the British High Commission.
The change affects physical visas in passports, Biometric Residence Permits (BRP), and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC), which will no longer be valid after December 31, 2024.
Individuals planning to stay in the UK for more than six months from January 1, 2025, must apply for E-Visas.
Additionally, holders of valid Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) must apply for E-Visas before December 31, 2024.
The Ministry cautioned travelers, especially during the Christmas period, to apply for and access their E-Visas before December 31, 2024, to avoid complications when re-entering the UK.
“The Ministry urges all affected persons to take the necessary steps to ensure compliance with these new regulations,” the statement added.
